As with so many things in life, ageing has its advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, we gain a lot of life experience as we get older and we deal with different situations in a calmer and more relaxed way. On the negative side, there are clearly the signs of ageing ... such as wrinkles.
But that's no reason to be upset: thanks to the merits of aesthetic medicine and its ever-increasing recognition, wrinkle treatments are no longer something "disreputable". Minimally invasive procedures involving injections with toxin and hyaluronic acid are becoming increasingly popular.
Do you know which active ingredient is best suited for which wrinkles? In this article, we will enlighten you.
Toxin smoothes expression lines
In aesthetic medicine Toxin a very frequently used active ingredient that is also well-known among patients. It was already being used for various medical purposes in the 1970s. Since around 1990, it has been a popular means of treating wrinkles.
Toxin is injected into the facial muscles. There it inhibits the transmission of excitation from nerve cells to the muscles. In this way, contractions are inhibited or prevented. The treated muscle relaxes - the wrinkles are smoothed out.
Mimic wrinkles respond optimally to injections with toxin. These develop over the course of a lifetime due to recurring facial movements and become ingrained. Laughing, frowning or squinting the eyes always strain the same muscles, which also strains the skin in the same places. Transverse forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, frown lines or nose wrinkles can be treated very well with toxin.
As a rule, the smoothed result lasts for around four to nine months, after which the injections can be repeated.
Hyaluronic acid plumps up gravitational wrinkles and gives new volume
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body - for example in the eyes and joints. Hyaluronic acid is found in particularly high concentrations in the skin, which keeps it plump and firm. It is located between the skin cells and keeps the skin elastic due to its high ability to bind water.
From around the age of 25, the production of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases. As a result, the tissue becomes flabbier and the skin sags. Gravity does the rest: so-called gravitational wrinkles develop.
We can compensate for this quite simply by using a fine cannula to remove the Hyaluronic acid as a filler inject into the deeper layers of the skin. It then unfolds its plumping effect in these areas by giving the skin new volume.
We use hyaluronic acid in the treatment of gravity-induced wrinkles in the naso-labial area, wrinkles around the mouth and sunken tissue.
The result lasts for about a year. This type of wrinkle treatment can also be repeated at any time.
