Tips for perfect eyebrows

Acura Clinic - Plastic Surgery

Eyebrows have long been a major beauty theme. They give the face the right frame and express emotions. So of course you should also know how best to style your eyebrows. This includes not only the right shape, but also enough hairs. But what should you do if you don't have enough eyebrows?

The right shape depends on the face

Not every eyebrow shape is suitable for every person. For an expressive but harmonious "frame", the respective face shape should be taken into account. A curved brow line is best suited to a rather round face. Oval faces look best with a flat brow arch. Faces that appear angular look particularly attractive with full eyebrows that give them a proper contour.

If you are not sure which eyebrow shape best suits your face shape, you should leave the shaping to a professional, at least initially. Hairdressers and beauty salons offer eyebrow plucking as standard.

This rule of thumb also applies: two thirds of the eyebrow should rise from the inner corner of the eye, while the rear third should sink downwards. The brow shape is perfect when its end forms a 45-degree angle to the eye.

This is the best way to shape the brow

The easiest way to do this is with tweezers. They should have bevelled edges to catch even the smallest hairs when plucking. But be careful not to apply the tweezers too far towards the skin, otherwise you could injure yourself. It is best to gently tighten the skin with your fingers and pluck in the direction of brow growth. Professionals advise only shaping the eyebrows at the lower edge and not from above.

Eyebrow styling

The shelves in the drugstores are full of make-up products that optimise the eyebrows. In the first styling step, the hairs should be combed upwards with a brow brush. Now they can either be emphasised with an eyebrow pencil or powder or simply fixed with a transparent eyebrow gel.

What if there are too few eyebrow hairs?

If you're thinking: "That's all well and good, but I don't have enough hairs above my eyes. What should I do?", then we have a solution for you. Smaller gaps can actually be easily concealed by using an eyebrow pencil or powder.

Sometimes, however, this no longer helps and simply makes the face look "artificially painted". This is the case, for example, with eyebrow loss, which can occur due to hormonal changes, illnesses, allergies, nutrient deficiencies or as an undesirable side effect of medication. In affected patients, the hairs above the eye literally fall out. Long-term and very intensive plucking of the eyebrows can also lead to stagnation of hair growth. Some patients also have naturally "sparse" eyebrows, i.e. sporadic bald patches or irregular hair growth above the eye.

If you suffer from gaps in your eyebrows or too thin hair growth and are looking for a permanent solution without a lot of make-up, eyebrow transplantation is an interesting option. The defective brows can be corrected, thickened and/or modelled. The procedure promotes a harmonious and aesthetic look.

How eyebrow transplantation works

In terms of methodology, eyebrow transplantation is carried out in the same way as a hair transplant using the FUE method.

Before we begin, we discuss the desired shape and thickness of the eyebrows. We then anaesthetise the area at the back of the head, from which we then remove individual hairs using a hollow needle. We then make small incisions in the eyebrows and implant the hairs.

It is normal for the inserted hair to fall out again after about two weeks. They start to grow again after around three months. The final result is achieved around 6 to 12 months after the eyebrow transplant.
