The treatment

A breast lift at the Acura Clinic is always performed under general anaesthetic. Before the operation, the surgeon carefully marks the breasts to determine exactly where the excess skin needs to be removed and how the breast shape should be restored.

During the procedure, incisions are made after which the excess skin and breast tissue are removed. In addition, if necessary, the nipples are lifted to achieve a natural, aesthetic result. Exactly how this is done depends on the degree of sagging and the chosen treatment technique. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are sutured and sterile plasters are applied.

After the operation, you will wake up calmly in the recovery room, where you will be closely monitored by our medical team. After a medical examination, you can go home the same day if everything is in order.

Breast lift without implants

This option is suitable for women who are satisfied with the volume of their breasts but suffer from sagging skin or drooping breasts. With a breast lift, the breasts regain their firmness and shape without the use of implants.

Breast lift with implants

If the sagging is compounded by a loss of volume - for example after pregnancy or weight loss - a combination of a breast lift and implants offers an excellent solution. This not only ensures firmer, but also fuller and rounder breasts. The implants are inserted through a small incision to minimise scarring.

Both techniques aim to achieve a natural result that is completely customised to your body and your wishes. Thanks to the many years of experience of our specialists, you can rely on expert care - from the initial consultation to aftercare.

You must wear the bra for 3 months after the operation.

Recovery after a breast lift with possible augmentation

After the procedure, you will stay in the clinic for a few hours to recover from the anaesthetic. As soon as you have recovered sufficiently and the first checks have been carried out, you will be allowed to go home under supervision. During this recovery phase, it is important to support the healing process and follow the post-operative instructions exactly.

The first weeks
Pain and swelling are normal after the operation and can be well controlled with painkillers such as paracetamol.
You will wear a special post-operative bra day and night for at least 3 months. This supports the breasts, reduces swelling and promotes beautiful scarring.
The plasters on the wounds remain in place for the first 2 weeks. You may shower your lower body, but you must ensure that the plasters remain dry.

At the follow-up appointment after about 2 weeks, the nurse removes the knots from the stitches and photographs are taken.

Care of the scar
Clean the scar for the first 10-14 days by dabbing it with Betadine and gauze in the morning and evening.
Then apply a hypoallergenic micropore plaster to the scar. After 4 weeks, replace it with a silicone plaster containing micropores, which you continue to use for 3 to 6 months.
From 1 month after the operation, massage the scar daily with Colostrum cream in circular movements to achieve a smooth and even scar.

Important notes

• Do not sleep on your side for the first 6 weeks.
• No sport or strenuous exercise for the first 3 months. After that, you can slowly start exercising again without putting pressure on the chest or arm muscles.
• Driving is not recommended for the first 2 weeks, especially with a seatbelt across the chest.
• Do not smoke, not even passively, from 6 weeks before to 6 weeks after the operation.
• It is recommended not to become pregnant in the first 6 months after the procedure.
• In some cases, the sensation in the nipples may be permanently impaired.
• Your recovery is an essential part of the final result. If you follow these guidelines carefully, you will support your body optimally and together we will ensure a beautiful, natural result.

Risks and complications of a breast lift (with possible enlargement)

A breast lift is a safe procedure that is performed at the Acura Clinic with the utmost care and expertise. Nevertheless, every surgical procedure harbours certain risks. Although complications are rare, it is important that you are well informed.

Possible risks and complications are

• Infection of the wound or tissue
• Bleeding or swelling
• Impaired wound healing or scarring
• Allergic reactions to plasters, disinfectants or medication
• Temporary or permanent loss of sensation in the nipples or breast area
• Displacement or encapsulation around an implant (for breast lift with augmentation)
• Asymmetry or irregularities in the breast shape
• Anaesthesia risks, as with any general anaesthetic

A breast lift with implants can also lead to implant-related complications such as capsular contracture (tightening of the connective tissue around the implant) or rupture of the implant. These risks are limited, especially if you follow the aftercare instructions carefully and choose an experienced doctor.

How long should I wear the post-operative bra?

Can I still breastfeed after a breast lift?
Most women can continue breastfeeding after a breast lift, but this cannot be completely guaranteed. It depends on the technique and your personal anatomy.

What are the risks of a breast lift?
