To discuss your ideas with one of our specialised surgeons, we welcome you to the Acura Clinic for a free, no-obligation consultation. Counselling interview welcome.
During this consultation, the doctor will listen to your wishes and examine the area to be treated. He pays particular attention to the skin and bone structure as well as the existing fat content. The doctor will discuss his findings with you and explain which treatment is suitable for you and what results you can expect. During the consultation, you will also be informed about the techniques and possible risks and complications.
There are various techniques for performing a BBL. Together with your doctor, you can choose between a BBL with lipofilling or a BBL with implants at the Acura Clinic.
With the Treatment of lipoedema we look at the overall picture. A harmonious and coordinated result is very important for aesthetic procedures. The Liposuction can also be combined with other treatments.
Lipofilling or fat grafting is better known as volume augmentation with autologous fat. It involves the transfer of fat cells from one region of the body to another. There are no large scars as the fat is transplanted from one region to another using needle punctures. The fat is transferred through Liposuction and then reinserted in the areas where more volume is required, in this case the buttocks.
A BBL with lipofilling is performed under general anaesthetic.
If you find your buttocks too small or flat, or if they have lost firmness, a lift with buttock implants may be a suitable procedure. The implants are inserted through a small incision so that scarring is minimised.
A BBL with implants is performed under general anaesthetic.
You don't have to stay with us overnight after a BBL.
Every operation harbours risks. There is a small risk of an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic fluids, disinfectants or plasters, infection, impaired wound healing or post-operative bleeding. Anaesthesia also involves minor risks.
After the treatment, you can stay in the clinic for a while to recover from the procedure. When the anaesthetic wears off after a few hours, you will feel slight pain. This pain can generally be well controlled with painkillers such as paracetamol.
Most patients recover quite quickly from a BBL with lipofilling, namely within 3 to 6 days. However, it is very important to follow the post-operative guidelines carefully. Your buttocks may be a little tender after the operation.
The recovery process for a lift with buttock implants, on the other hand, can take a little longer. Patients usually recover within two to four weeks and the final result can be seen after about three months. With this procedure, it is also very important that you follow the surgeon's post-operative instructions exactly.
You should wear compression garments for six weeks after the operation. The compression garment prevents swelling and helps the wound to heal as well as possible. It is important that you do not exert yourself physically for the first two weeks after the treatment. Your body needs this time to recover. After the first two weeks, you can gradually resume your usual activities.
You will see much more volume immediately, but it can take up to four months before you see the final result. During this time, the swelling caused by the operation and the Liposuction have been created. In addition, up to 40 per cent of the transferred fat cells can be lost during this time.
After seeing the final result, some patients opt for a BBL revision to add even more volume. Asymmetries, dimpling or less than optimal results can also be improved with an additional fat transfer to the buttocks. However, you must have enough unwanted fat from other areas to transfer to your buttocks.
There are certain questions that are frequently asked about a BBL. We have summarised the most frequently asked questions for you in the following overview. The questions are followed by short and concise answers.
A Brazilian butt lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which fat is removed from certain areas of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs, and then injected into the buttocks to make them fuller and more proportionate.
In a BBL, fat cells are first removed by Liposuction from donor sites on the body. The harvested fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks at strategic locations to achieve the desired shape and volume.
In a BBL with implants, a small incision is made through which the implants are inserted.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with a BBL such as infection, bleeding, fat necrosis and asymmetry. These risks can be minimised by careful preparation, an experienced surgeon and following the post-operative instructions.
Recovery varies from person to person, but in general, patients should expect to be restricted in their activities for several weeks after a BBL. It can take several months for the swelling to completely subside and for the final result to become visible.
At the Lipofilling some of the injected fat may be absorbed by the body. However, the results are generally permanent. A healthy lifestyle can help to maintain the results.
With a BBL with implants, the results are permanent.
A Brazilian butt lift uses the patient's own fat, while buttock implants use silicone implants to augment the buttocks. The recovery process can vary and both procedures are associated with different risks.
A experienced plastic surgeon can assess whether you are a suitable candidate for a BBL. In general, good candidates are healthy, have sufficient fat reserves for a Liposuction and have realistic expectations.
Yes, you can lose or gain weight after liposuction, but this can affect the size and shape of your buttocks. For optimal results, it is important to maintain a stable weight.
The duration of the procedure depends on various factors, including the amount of fat to be harvested and injected, but generally a BBL procedure takes a few hours.
During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will take your medical history, discuss your aesthetic goals, explain the procedure and answer your questions. He or she will also assess whether you are a suitable candidate for a BBL.
