There are various treatments for bags under the eyes and drooping eyelids. You may never have heard of the transconjunctival Eyelid correction heard of it? This is a relatively new treatment method that is regularly used, especially for younger patients. This article explains the method, the expectations of the treatment, the costs of the treatment and treatment alternatives in detail.
WHAT IS A TRANSCONJUNCTIVE LID CORRECTION
If the problem is not sagging skin, but merely small fat deposits under the eyes, a transconjunctival Eyelid correction may be a suitable treatment for you. During the treatment, a small incision is made on the inside of the eyelid. The incision is no longer visible after the treatment. The advantage here is that the muscles around the eye remain untouched to remove the fat. As a rule, this lower eyelid correction method is performed on younger patients, as it usually involves small deposits of fat rather than sagging skin. This treatment is not used to tighten the skin but to remove fat deposits without leaving visible scars.
WHAT TYPE OF ANAESTHETIC IS USED FOR THIS LID CORRECTION METHOD?
A local anaesthetic is usually chosen for classic eyelid correction or lower eyelid correction. This is not the case with transconjunctival eyelid correction. A general anaesthetic is required for this treatment.
WHAT DOES THE TRANSCONJUNCTIVE LID CORRECTION COST?
The costs for this eyelid correction method are higher than for the standard eyelid correction method. The higher costs are mainly due to the cost of the general anaesthetic. Find out more in our Price overview more about the costs of this treatment.
COMBINATION WITH UPPER EYELID CORRECTION
It is possible to combine a correction of the upper and lower eyelids. If your lower eyelids are treated, you can also have your upper eyelids corrected at the same time. Many people opt for a combination of treatments as they only need to recover from the operation once. An upper eyelid correction is usually performed on excess skin above the eyes. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and your eyelids begin to droop. This gives you a tired look and can even make you feel really tired. The upper eyelid correction usually takes three quarters of an hour to an hour.
COMBINATION WITH THE CO2 FRACTIONAL LASER
You can also combine transconjunctival lower eyelid correction with the CO2 fractional laser. The result of this laser treatment is beautiful, smooth and firm skin. The skin is less dehydrated and has a better complexion. With good skin care, the result will last for one to three years. However, you should try to avoid new wrinkles and skin damage.
