Laser hair removal: Which body areas are suitable?

Laser hair removal

How does laser hair removal work?

Methods such as sugaring, waxing, hair removal creams or epilation do achieve smooth skin, but are often associated with unpleasant sensations and pain. Furthermore, the result is not permanent. An effective method for removing hair for a long time and no longer having to worry about hair removal is the laser.

Using a high-frequency laser, body hair can be removed relatively painlessly and cleanly. By generating heat in the hair roots using light, they are cauterised and purposefully prevented from producing new hair.

Before we begin the laser hair removal, we take photos of the area of skin to be treated. We adjust the laser energy to suit your skin type and individual condition. Following the adjustment, we begin the treatment, which can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on the effort involved. Multiple sessions are required for optimal results.

Permanent hair removal of specific body areas

Laser hair removal must not be carried out too close to the eye or below the eyebrow. Also to be avoided are the area of the fontanelle on the head, as well as skin areas that are tattooed or treated with permanent make-up. Furthermore, moles and birthmarks must not come into contact with the hair removal laser. Injured skin areas must also be avoided.

Apart from these limitations, many areas with unwanted hair can be treated: for example, the cheeks, chin or upper lip, which in women often have bothersome peach fuzz. Particularly in Southern European women, large parts of the face are often covered with dark-pigmented hairs. Here, laser treatment offers a high prospect of success.

The intimate area can also be treated using a laser. One advantage of this is that the treatment also has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps prevent ingrown hairs in the bikini line. The same applies to the underarms.

How effective are the results of the hair removal?

Not everyone responds to permanent laser hair removal. The colour of your skin and hair plays an important role in the final result. Dark hair is more heavily pigmented and contains more melanin. This pigment absorbs the laser light better, making the treatment more effective.
